Aileen was born in Elsternwick. After doing a business course, she started work as a secretary at the Children’s Hospital, before doing medical administration at the Royal Melbourne and the College of Surgeons. Her work enabled her to travel to Kuala Lumper, Hong Kong and Manilla. She met her husband Pat at a car rally and they were happily married for 59 years. They both moved to Parkglen as Pat’s health was failing and they wanted more support and the locality of the village was near Pat’s church.
Aileen has lived at Parkglen for 12 years and says she is grateful that she and Pat both had 6 years together in Parkglen before he died and now she has the support around her. She likes the locality of Parkglen (it’s easy to walk everywhere and the village very well located), enjoys her garden, has made good friends and can have pets if she wants to. Aileen runs the Crazy Whist games at Parkglen and attends all the monthly luncheons and Dinner Dances.
“Parkglen helps me live confidently by never feeling nervous at night. We all need that support and to feel comfortable with it.”
